Hamptons Happenings

The scene at Kidsfest Hamptons to benefit Free Arts NYC.
This past Saturday, August 2nd, at Hampton Country Day Camp in East Hampton, Free Arts NYC along with Kate Bolduan, Cristina Cuomo, and Kelly Rutherford hosted Kidsfest Hamptons, presented by Echo Design and Lifetime TV, with additional support from Beach magazine.

Kidsfest Hamptons is a day fun for the whole family, which includes Face Painting, Gaga Games, Hula Hooping, Yoga, Building Blocks, Spin Art, T-shirt Painting, Design Your Own Sunglasses, Wire Sculptures and more.

All proceeds from Kidsfest benefit Free Arts NYC's educational arts mentoring programs for underserved youth and families. Free Arts NYC provides underserved children and families with a unique combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them to foster the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential. Last Monday, July 28th, The Dubin Breast Center of The Tisch Cancer Institute at The Mount Sinai Health System held its Fresh Air event at John and Amy Griffin’s East Hampton home. Guests had the opportunity to meet and hear from several Mount Sinai Health System experts in breast cancer, lifestyle medicine, and women’s health.  The lovely summer morning featured organic juices and a light brunch.

Breast cancer and healthy living experts included Elisa Port, MD, FACS, Director of the Dubin Breast Center and Chief of Breast Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital; Michael Brodman, MD, Ellen and Howard C. Katz Chair of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Science; Jeffrey Mechanick, MD, Director of Metabolic Support in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Bone Disease; and breast surgeon Christina Weltz, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgical Oncology in Mount Sinai's Department of Surgery.

The Dubin Breast Center of The Tisch Cancer Institute provides a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach to breast cancer screening, treatment and survivorship. Located at The Mount Sinai Hospital’s main campus on New York City’s Upper East Side, the 15,000-square-foot facility houses a full range of services, including cancer screening and biopsies, cancer treatment including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, wellness, patient and family support services, education, genetic counseling and testing, onco-fertility services, access to clinical trials, and survivorship support.

Representing a bold vision for breast cancer treatment and research, the Dubin Breast Center focuses on the holistic health and well-being of individuals with or at risk for cancer. Patients receive highly personalized, multidisciplinary care in a calming, private, and supportive setting.

Last Thursday noon-time, World Monuments Fund and Mulberry held a lunch and shopping event at a private residence in East Hampton. Pauline Eveillard, Nathalie Kaplan, Elizabeth Reid, Fiona Rudin, and Jennifer Wright were hosts. During the lunch, Mulberry presented its Autumn Winter 2014 collection.

Catching up: On June 21, 2014 The Ellen Hermanson Foundation held their annual Summer Solstice to honor Robert Chaloner, President and CEO of Southampton Hospital and Jean Shafiroff. The events honorary chair was Kathryn C. Chenault. Attended by 400 guests, the evening raised over $200,000 for the foundation.

At 6pm VIPs attended a champagne reception and tour of the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at the Southampton Hospital. Attendees bore witness to the unveiling of 'The Martin and Jean Shafiroff Examination Room', and the donation of two Pink Dogwood trees in honor of Chuck and Ellen Scarborough that will flank the new center entrance upon its opening. The Shafiroff's and the Scarborough's names, and those of Robert Chaloner and his husband, Oscar Mandez, were all added to the centers Wall of Honor.
Following the tour, guests joined the gala at Chuck and Ellen Scarborough's home for cocktails and canapés before the speeches began.
