|This past Saturday at Nova’s Ark Project in Water Mill, Kelly Ripa and Donna Karan hosted Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s (OCRF) 17th annual Super Saturday, sponsored by QVC with a special preview hour that began at noon. Super Saturday 17 raised $3.5 million for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.
Super Saturday 17 is OCRF’s fun-filled, family-oriented daylong fundraiser, complete with a one-of-a-kind designer garage sale, kids’ carnival and activities, a luxury raffle and gourmet treats. Once dubbed “the Rolls-Royce of garage sales,” the most anticipated element of Super Saturday is the fashion garage sale, which included merchandise from nearly 200 prominent participants including: Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, INTERMIX, Vince, IRO, Alexis Bittar, Bonpoint, Haute Hippie, Nanette Lepore, Milly, Theory, Elie Tahari, Diane von Furstenberg, alice + olivia, Scoop NYC, Vilebrequin, J Brand and Helmut Lang. Decades founder Cameron Silver curated “Cameron’s Corner”, a mix of vintage and modern pre-loved clothing and accessories. For the seventh consecutive year, the “Designers A to Zoe” booth by Rachel Zoe featured a compilation of pieces from her favorite luxury designers including Etro, Oscar De La Renta, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler and Stella McCartney.
|OCRF and QVC united once again for “QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE,” a live, on-site broadcast, offering viewers nationwide the chance to purchase premier fashion, beauty, jewelry, accessories and home items for half the suggested retail price, with net proceeds benefitting OCRF. To date, QVC Presents Super Saturday LIVE has delivered more than $7.4 million to OCRF.
In addition to incredible shopping, OCRF’s Super Saturday 17 offered attendees an afternoon of activities and indulgences. Guests loved Priv’s Braid Bar which offered fresh summer hairstyles and enjoyed psychic readings with Betsy Wahmann. Attendees stopped by the Rolls-Royce photo booth helping further support OCRF. For each shared photo, Rolls-Royce made a donation to OCRF.
|There was an on-site luxury raffle with prizes from designers including Vhernier, Lorraine Schwartz, Charlotte Olympia, Dolce & Gabbana and Pologeorgis Furs and experiences donated by The New York Football Giants, Trump National Golf Club and Flywheel Sports, among others. Additionally, OCRF’s Super Saturday Online Auction began July 16th with amazing one-of-a-kind VIP experiences, celebrity meet & greets and so much more! For children at Super Saturday 17, there were rides, games and arts and crafts galore. New to Super Saturday, Stitched Fashion Camp gave kids the chance to tap into their inner designer. Parsons Professor/Fashion Designer Rob Younkers and Yahoo Fashion Editor-in-Chief and Executive Creative Officer Joe Zee worked with children sketching, designing and styling one-of-a-kind t-shirts embellished with custom-made designs from Swarovski. Also this summer, over at Camp Divalysscious, kids enjoyed arts & crafts all day with the Craft Studio, a dance party with “Jam with Jamie and Friends!” special performances from Wendy The Pipe Cleaner Lady and Didi Maxx, Bella face painting, Glitter Tattoo NYC, Caricatures by Jen, Balloon Artistry and s’mores making. Kids of all ages also visited Space Odyssey East, where they played the hottest video games available on the planet in the arcade mecca.

|Last Wednesday in Saint Tropez, France, the Gala hosted by Foundation Chairman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Event Fundraising Chairman Milutin Gatsby, Foundation Executive Director Justin Winters and the Event’s Chairs Boris Collardi, Philippe Cousteau and Jared Leto raised over $25 million for The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, dedicated to protecting Earth’s last wild places and implementing solutions to build a more harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world.|
|Leonardo DiCaprio opened the evening with an impassioned speech about the Foundation’s work and stated, “Today we stand at the 11th Hour – facing a tipping point of environmental crises unprecedented in human history. Not since the age of the dinosaurs have so many species of plants and animals become extinct in such a short period of time. We must now make an effort to protect the rich biodiversity that could allow nature to eventually recover. The good news is there are solutions to these massive problems. Efforts like tonight will start addressing them.“
DiCaprio proceeded to open the live auction with his own Harley-Davidson Motorcycle signed by Martin Scorsese, Robert DeNiro and himself.

Bono took the stage with Julian Lennon, and took down the house with their own rendition of “Stand By Me.” Bono stayed on stage to auction off his personal guitar for $1 million.
The highest bid of the night was for a Damien Hirst sculpture, “Golden Myth” which was sold to Len Blavatnik for over $6 million.
A walk on role in one of Leonardo DiCaprio’s next films was sold twice for a total of $2.4 million dollars.
A Picasso drawing was sold to Patrice Motsepe for $1 million.

|On a perfect full moon summer night in July, 650 guests flocked to the edge of Newport Harbor to attend the IYRS Annual Summer Gala sponsored by Fidelity Investments and Prestige Jaguar. Overall it was an extraordinary evening for IYRS, raising over $1mm in gross proceeds.
The first stop of the evening at the IYRS Gala: a cocktail reception and preview of the Live and Collectors Gallery Auctions. The party was centered on the historic buildings and boats that make up the IYRS campus. Carrying a nautical tribute on each table were the lines drawings of famous sailing yachts, Ruweida V, Dorade, and Whitehawk.
After cocktails, IYRS Chairman Joseph T. Dockery gave the official IYRS welcome and extended sincere thanks to Gala corporate and individual sponsors. |C. Hugh Hildesley of Sotheby’s conducted the Gala Live Auction. The top-earning auction item of the evening was a miniature model of Young America by Donald McNarry. Other live-auction items included a fully restored 1957 VW Beetle Coupe, a stay in a WIMCO oceanside villa in St. Barth’s during the St. Barth’s Bucket regatta, and an extraordinary diamond encrusted cuff bracelet from famous Italian jewelry designer Pomellato. Gala guests were also enthusiastic donors in a reverse auction for equipment, tools and technology --- raising over $200,000 --- thus ensuring that students continue to have access to the state-of-the art equipment that is critical to their IYRS learning experience. The rare Abeking & Rasmussen Beetle Cat raffle was won by Rebecca Allen. Ms. Allen was inspired to enter the raffle by her father – he grew up sailing a Beetle Cat he won through a lottery, appropriately named WINDFALL.
The highlight of the evening was a cool Texan charmed performance given by Lyle Lovett & His Band. Lovett's inimitable way with a melody and lyrics made for a magical experience. The IYRS Gala crowd was on Lyle’s side and cheered each song enthusiastically as they did the two encores, including the setting appropriate “If I Had a Boat."
|IYRS School of Technology & Trades is a world-class experiential learning school with an education model dedicated to teaching highly technical and deeply craft-oriented career skills. The school’s legacy is born out of a mission to preserve the craft of making, building and restoring in the marine trades. Currently, IYRS has three accredited programs and regularly collaborates with post-secondary schools of architecture, preservation, industrial design and engineering through short-term classes, including recently with MIT, Harvard, RISD, Roger Williams and others. |Under brilliant skies and with a soft breeze unfurling the flag of the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta, the philanthropic set from the East End, Greenwich, Palm Beach, Miami, Greenwich converged at the landmark Rogers Mansion home to the Southampton Historical Society on Friday July 18th for the inaugural Legacy of Hope Sunset cocktail reception. The occasion was the first ever Knights of Malta fundraising event in the Hamptons to benefit the organization's relief agency Malteser International at an elegant sunset cocktail reception on the mansion's sprawling lawn.
The Order of Malta, the world's oldest Christian charity founded in Jerusalem over 900 years ago, opened the first American branch of its humanitarian relief agency Malteser International last November. In 2013, Malteser International helped around 10 million people in 26 countries, delivering over $60 million in aid. The agency has provided emergency relief and recovery aid for nearly 60 years worldwide, responding to major crises such as the 2004 Asian Tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, and more recently, Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and the ongoing Syrian crisis. Malteser International helps the vulnerable and marginalized lead a healthy life with dignity, without distinction of religion, race or political persuasion.

|The evening included a special exhibition of photos of various Malteser International's projects including its work in the Philippines following the devastating typhoon. In addition, on display were rarely seen memorabilia from the Knights of Malta's private archives including a replica of the 900-year-old Papal Bull authorizing the mission of the Knights of Malta, a ceremonial Knight's robe and coins issued by the Sovereign Order. Delectable hors d'oeuvres from 230 Elm were complimented by ales & lagers courtesy of Southampton Publick House and superb wines. A duo on strings and guitar provided a lovely background for the guests strolling the lawns of the historic mansion.

|The evening included a silent auction of luxury goods, a gift basket of bath items from Joanna Mincarelli's stylish emporium Erika's Place, VIP Passes to Art Southampton, the premier contemporary and modern art fair for acquiring investment quality art in the Hamptons, a glamorous white cashmere summer shawl from Christopher Fischer, photography from undersea photographer David Nadal, a glamorous Jaipur necklace form Sequin, a jade & 18 kt. gold leaf pendant from international jeweler Tamara Comolli and gift certificates to many of the area's finest dining establishments. Famed interior designer Elizabeth Hagins and art consultant Richard Mortimer, partners in the newly launched Hagins & Mortimer Design in Southampton donated design consultations and a gift from their beautiful new Windmill Lane shop. Mortimer also personally donated a gorgeous yellow rose mezzo tint.

|It was a boot-stomping, wolf-whistling, sing-Ophelia-at-the-top-of-your-lungs-good time earlier this summer at a benefit concert for the Jay Heritage Center, where 200 guests in blue jeans and wildflowered frocks defied damp skies to get their dose of "Poor Old Shine." The evening was dedicated to raising funds towards continued restoration of the gardens and meadow of the landmark Jay Estate in Rye, New York.
Dubbed "Best New Artist of 2013" by New York Times writer, David Vecsey, the band of 5 young Americana musicians brewed up a playlist of pitch perfect rock, folk and roots influenced harmonies. They got the crowd singing along to their home hewn lyrics in songs like "Weeds or Wildflowers" and "Right Now" while also giving new spins to old standards from The Band.
|Perched on hay bales around the stage, guests were equally dazzled by the visual artistry of the group; the deft fingers of Chris Freeman, Max Shakun, Antonio Alcorn, Harrison Goodale and Erik Hischmann coaxed the most rapturous music out of antique saws, a 19th century pump organ, banjos, mandolins, vibraphones, drums and bass. By the second set people were dancing on the ochre brick floor and singing along to the "Hurry All Around" and the boisterous "Hang Me, Oh Hang Me." The band closed out an already memorable night with every member singing a soulful stanza of "Goodnight Irene."
The debut event was co-chaired by Annie Teillon, Lisa King, Louise Sumner and Meghann Kelly. Together with volunteers from JHC's Preservationists they made the unique venue - a 1907 Carriage House - positively glow with cascades of twinkling lights and bouquets of yellow daffodils in mason jars. Sponsors of the event were the Wine Cellar and Yonkers Brewery.
