|Last Sunday morning (January 25th) at Astor Hall in the New York Public Library (Stephen A. Schwarzman Building), they held their 2015 Family Benefit, Adventures on the Farm. This was a family event “inspired by tales of farm and country life.” There were arts and crafts, animated readings for the little ones, festive food and several other activities meant to encourage a life-long love of reading.|

|The 2015 Policemen's Ball, the Palm Beach Police Foundation's annual fundraiser, met a million dollar milestone, breaking its previous fund raising records. Secret Agent 007, aka James Bond, and a cast of heroes, villains and vixens recently descended on Mar-a-Lago, replete with signature Bond elements that were cleverly incorporated by event designer, Tom Mathieu, who set the scene for the gala that paid tribute to Palm Beach Police Department's men and women in blue and its civilian employees.
Mary and Mark Freitas served as the Dinner Chairmen, and Annie and Michael Falk served as Honorary Chairmen, all for the second year. More than 600 supporters, friends, police officers and employees from the Palm Beach Police Department, along with Palm Beach Mayor Gail Coniglio and nearly all Palm Beach Town Council members, attended and were entertained by the popular dance band, Soul Survivor.
| The evening began with a poolside cocktail reception, followed by the pomp and pageantry provided by Palm Beach Pipes and Drums and Presentation of the Colors by the Palm Beach Police Department Honor Guard. The National Anthem was performed by Lou Galterio and the Invocation was given by Fred Hess, a former captain who returned after retiring from handling the police department's community relations.
The Ninth Annual Palm Tree Award was presented by Palm Beach Police Foundation co-founder and President, John Scarpa, and Foundation co-founder and Vice President, Tim Moran to David S. Mack, the Second Vice President of the Palm Beach Police Foundation. Following, Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw made an expected presentation to Mack, awarding him with the Department's highest civilian honor.
|Palm Beach Director of Public Safety Kirk Blouin surprised a deserving police officer, Detective Larry Menniti with the Fourth Annual "Officer of the Year" award and a $5,000 check from the Foundation.
The live auction, conducted by Bill Bone, featured jewelry donated by Buccellati and Neiman Marcus Palm Beach, tickets to a Rod Stewart concert, sports packages and other items, culminated in raising nearly $170,000 in proceeds -- funds that will benefit the Palm Beach Police Department and its employees -- and making the ball the Foundation's most successful to date.

|Greeted by the glitter of butterflies, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts 2015 Gala Chairs, Ambassadors, committee members, sponsors and supporters were treated to a kickoff event at Neiman Marcus Palm Beach on Wednesday, January 21. Gala leadership, including Chair Monika Preston and Honorary Chair Kathryn C. Vecellio, were on site to welcome guests and thank them for their support. The annual benefit takes place at the Kravis Center on Sunday, February 8, 2015.
Guests were treated to an "Art of Fashion" show, including a grand finale of Oscar de la Renta's spring 2015 collection. The show highlighted popular spring trends, such as suede, whites, fringe and layered necklaces.
Prior to the exclusive fashion show, Beth Pine, Vice President and General Manager of Neiman Marcus Palm Beach, welcomed guests and then introduced Mrs. Preston, who greeted the crowd and thanked them for their generous support, with special mention given to Vice Chairs, Cameron Preston, Angela Vecellio and Tara Vecellio. She shared that their, "youthful energy and spirit have been instrumental in helping to plan the Gala, and I am so appreciative of their time and support."
|Paraphrasing Boston Pops conductor, Keith Lockhart, Mrs. Preston said, "The Boston Pops Orchestra performs the best music of the past and present, appealing to the widest possible audience with a broad spectrum of styles from jazz to pop, indie rock to big band, film music to the great American Songbook and Broadway to classical, making it the perfect orchestra for people who don't know they like orchestras."
Mrs. Preston continued saying, "Now in its 129th season, the Pops reaches millions of listeners, not only through its concert performances in Boston, but also via the internet, radio, television, educational programs, recordings and tours. They are an American treasure, drawing talent from all over the globe, and we are delighted they will take center stage at the 2015 Kravis Center Gala. We have over 380 reservations so far, which is a fantastic turnout, and we expect the Gala to sell out soon!"
|The annual affair will begin with a reception in the Shapiro Founders' Room at the Kravis Center, followed by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra performance in Dreyfoos Hall and a dinner dance in the Gimelstob Ballroom, located in the Cohen Pavilion.
Those honored as 2015 Kravis Center Gala Ambassadors are Lori Gendelman, Marianne Gold, Andrea Kosoy, Shelley Menin, Denise Meyer and Susan Miller. The Gala Committee members include Michael Bracci, Robert Fromer, Irene Karp, John Kessler, Ted Mandes, William Meyer, Jane Mitchell, Laurie Silvers, Jeffrey Stoops and Dom Telesco.
Tickets for this year's Gala are $750 for the Gala Patron and $375 for the Young Gala Patron (45 and younger). Dress for the 2015 Kravis Center Gala is cocktail attire.

|On Sunday, January 18th at Mar-a-Lago, American Friends of The Hebrew University (AFHU) honored Diane Belfer, Wilma Bernstein, Roberta Bogen, Barbara Eichner, Sherry Endelson, Ellen Levy, Barbara Rothschild, Louise Stein (of blessed memory), Joy Weinberger and Lois Zelman at its 10th Anniversary Gala Celebration, "A Night in the Garden of Eden."
AFHU supporters gathered for the elegant and entertaining evening, which included a cocktail reception and lavish dinner featuring Cirque Dreams. The special performance included breathtaking acrobatics and gravity defying feats fused with musical delight and imagination.
