|On January 16th Emilia Fanjul held her annual fundraiser, A Night of Great Expectation, to a sell out crowd of 220 guests at Café Boulud in Palm Beach.
The cocktails, dinner and auction raises funds for Glades Academy Foundation which in turn sponsors the two charter schools that Emilia opened in Pahokee fourteen years ago, Glades Academy, an elementary and middle school, and Everglades Preparatory Academy, a high school.
|The auction, highlighted by a week in Casa de Campo in a four room villa and a dinner and cruise on the Fanjul yacht Azucar, was conducted by auctioneer Jamie Niven, Chairman of Sotheby's, The Americas, who donated his time to the charity.
The party raised over $1,100,000 and will fund the purchase of three school buses, the construction of a sports pavilion at Glades Academy, field trips, motivational speakers, a job fair, library books and many other critical needs.
Pepe Fanjul, Emilia's husband, underwrote the event, as in previous years: the funds raised will all go to the schools and the children. Glades Academy Foundation has no overhead.
