New York, New York

740 guests attended the New York Philharmonic Opening Night Gala.
Last Thursday night at the newly named David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, the New York Philharmonic orchestra opened their Fall Season with a guest performance by the virtuoso concert pianist Lang Lang who performed Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16. After the concert, guests attended a black tie dinner for several hundred in the tents in Damrosch Park next to the Metropolitan Opera House. Mr. Geffen was also on hand, and there was a dedication of the David Geffen Hall before the concert.  At the dinner Oscar Schafer, the new chairman of the board of the New York Philharmonic, along with his wife Didi, announced a gift of $25 million to the orchestra.
