Young New Yorkers

On Thursday, February 5, 2015, Roger Vivier and The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center hosted the Winter Lunch at DANIEL. Sponsored by Roger Vivier, this elegant event was co-chaired by Gretchen Gunlocke Fenton, Jamee Gregory, Emilia Fanjul Pfeifler, Gillian Hearst Simonds, Amanda Taylor, and Caryn Zucker, along with Honorary Chairman and Roger Vivier brand ambassador Ines de la Fressange. The lunch raised $200,000.
160 guests enjoyed cocktails and a seated lunch, which included remarks from The Society of MSK’s President, Martha Glass, and Associates Committee Chairman, Eleanor Ylvisaker. Dr. Paul Meyers, Vice Chair of Academic Affairs, Department of Pediatrics at MSK, spoke about a special initiative this year to benefit the research and treatment for Pediatric Sarcoma, a cancer that can arise in bone, muscle, or connective tissue throughout the body affecting mostly children, adolescents, and young adults. The funds raised will accelerate the processes needed to launch and support clinical trials of a treatment that promises to change the future for children and young adults afflicted with this difficult disease.

On Tuesday, February 3, 2015, the Young New Yorkers for the Philharmonic gathered at a private venue on Park Avenue in New York City for their annual Winter Benefit. Over 200 guests attended and more than $95,000 was raised for the New York Philharmonic. The evening began with a chamber music recital at 8:00 p.m. and continued with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and dancing. New York Philharmonic Chairman Oscar S. Schafer welcomed guests and introduced Philharmonic musicians Acting Principal, Second Violin Group, Lisa Kim; violist Rémi Pelletier; and cellist Patrick Jee who gave a delightful chamber performance.

Last Wednesday, February 4th, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) Founder and President Paula Wallace welcomed stars of fashion and southern society to the first posthumous exhibition of the work of Oscar de la Renta curated by Vogue Contributing Editor Andre Leon Talley at the SCAD Museum of Art (SCADMOA) in Savannah, Georgia.

More than 50 dresses created by the late Mr. de la Renta for screen stars, political powers, fashion fixtures and family beguiled guests from high fashion and southern society. The event was a fundraiser for SCAD, a nonprofit, accredited, degree granting university with nearly 12,000 students on campuses in the US, Europe, Asia and online.
