|The Couture Council of The Museum at FIT hosted their annual luncheon honoring Akris Creative Director Albert Kriemler with its 2016 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion on Wednesday, September 7th at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. Kriemler was selected to receive the award for his commitment to outstanding craftsmanship and his dedication to creating well-tailored, wearable pieces that blend luxury with functionality.
Linda Fargo presented Kriemler with the award. Kriemler spoke appreciatively of New York City for always welcoming him without any preconceptions and providing a sense of belonging and inspiration. He also cited his appreciation for the exhibitions at The Museum at FIT. Kriemler is showing for the first time at New York Fashion Week this Friday.
|It has become tradition that the annual luncheon heralds the arrival of Fall Fashion Week in New York. The Couture Council is a philanthropic membership group that helps support the exhibitions and programs of The Museum at FIT. All proceeds from the event benefit The Museum.
Notable attendees included: Veronica Webb, Martha Stewart, Judith Ripka, Hamish Bowles, Joe Zee, Yaz Hernández, Liz Peek, Audrey Gruss, Linda Fargo, Lisa Klein, Dr. Joyce F. Brown and more.
Additionally, Robert and Jennifer D’Loren donated six pieces of Judith Ripka Ltd. jewelry that were on display at the luncheon. Proceeds will benefit the QVC Scholarship Fund within the FIT Foundation.
