An Evening Unmasking Eating Disorders

Dinner at The Pierre Hotel for the 15th Annual Benefit Gala, "An Evening Unmasking Eating Disorders," hosted by The National Eating Disorder Association.
Last week the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) hosted An Evening Unmasking Eating Disorders at the Pierre. This important evening celebrated heroes in the community who have made significant contributions toward supporting NEDA’s mission.

This year they honored designer Christian Siriano, Facebook, Ric Clark, Sr. Managing Partner Brookfield Property Group and NEDA Board member; and RBC Capital Markets.

NEDA also honored Hillary Clinton with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Mrs. Clinton was the very first United States Senator to introduce bipartisan federal legislation to provide information and education on prevention and treatment of eating disorders. Mrs. Clinton couldn’t make the gala although she expressed her support and gratitude for this very common yet rarely discussed problem.  Her friend Joslyn Smith accepted the award on her behalf. Everyone knows, has known, or has experienced personally eating disorders. It is one of the great ironies of our time considering the abundance that surrounds many of us. It also a difficult challenge and often greatly misunderstood.
