The Perlman Music Program's “Taste of Shelter Island”

On July 28, The Perlman Music Program (PMP) celebrated its annual “Taste of Shelter Island.”

Hosts Toby and Itzhak Perlman greeted guests at a beachside reception, featuring tastes from SALTRam’s Head InnThe Pridwin, and libations from Shelter Island BrewerySunset Beach, and Amagansett Wine & Spirits.
Guests then gathered in the performance tent for a sublime musical program by the PMP Chorus, led by Maestro Patrick Romano, and the PMP String Orchestra, under the baton of Maestro Itzhak Perlman.

Dinner, in an airy tent designed by Cait&Jules, featured local flavors from 18 Bay, Red Maple at The Chequit, Ram’s Head Inn, The Tavern at Shelter Island HouseVine Street CaféMarie Eiffel Market, and PMP’s own chef James Moran, who crafted dishes starring local produce from Sylvester Manor.

A silent auction offered special items from Café Boulud Palm Beach, Calypso St. Barth, EMP Summer House, Shoreline Aviation, Tesla – and vintages from Itzhak Perlman’s wine cellar.

PMP Founder, Toby Perlman, and Board Chairman, Randall Blank, recognized PMP board members in attendance Jay Dweck, Barbara Gladstone, Vicki Kellogg, Mark Miller, and Jim Toth, and thanked the audience for their extraordinary generosity to the Program.

Lead supporters included Arlene and Alan Alda, Cornelia and Ralph Heins, Jeff and Mei Sze Greene, Marsha and Henry Laufer, Mrs. Francis Lloyd, Carol and Lawrence Saper, Sidney Stark, Justin Sullivan, and Barbara and Sedgwick Ward & the Ward family. The evening raised $450,000 to support PMP’s exceptional students.
