Tsunami, a glamorous new Asian fusion style restaurant and lounge, located in Palm Beach, in City Place, held its grand opening last week (Friday, January 17, 2003).

The evening saluted the Young Friends of the Norton Museum of Art, and kicked off The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s spring dance, called “Barefoot On The Beach,” which is set for March 28th at The Breakers.

Anand Jon, the internationally acclaimed designer for the hot young set, staged a show of his cruise line. Anand is the man who launched the careers of Elizabeth Jagger, Lydia Hearst, and Nicky and Paris Hilton.

Tsunami was born in East Hampton before growing up and heading south. Among those toasting owners Frank Cilione and Shamin Abas with champagne Veuve Clicquot, were Andrea Stark, Allman Brothers Band’s Butch Trucks and his wife Melinda; lighting guru Bentley Meeker; Broadway producer Terry Allen Kramer and her nephew Charlie Allen; hand bag designer Lana Marks; Anheuser-Busch heiress Pamela O’Connor; and Ben Vereen’s son Benji Vereen. Whitney Tower, scion of the Vanderbilt and Whitney families, was there with his brand new fiancée, interior decorator, Dana Dodds. She is from Pittsburgh where her father the late Robert J. Dodds was a succesful lawyer as well as one of the initial owners of the city’s hockey team, The Penguins. He is The Wally Findlay Gallery’s new Palm Beach Director of Communications, which is not all that surprising when you remember that that his grandmother Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney started the Whitney Museum.

Couri Hay; Talbott and Jack Maxey; Robert Eigelberger; Ramsey Speer; head of the Palm Beach Film Festival Randi Emerman; Jackie and Beau Breckenridge from the Young Friends of the Norton Museum of Art; Anne Washburn; Kirsten and Averell Fisk; Kane and Mary Baker; columnist Thom Smith with his daughter Kirsten; Rodney Dillard; jewelry designer Laura Munder; and Bruce Sutka.

Craig Mancuso and Vivianne Hall.
