In the final tally, more than 2300 guests attended the 150 “Dinners on the Park,” the fundraiser celebrating the 150th anniversary of the founding of Central Park. They raised more than $1.6 million.

There were dinners on all four perimeters of the Park. The schedule was the same everywhere: 6:30 cocktails, 7:30 Viewing of the Haagen-Dazs Central Park Light Spectacular by artist Cai Guo-Quiang from the center of the Park (this event, thanks to the rainstorm that evening was mainly a fizzle). Dinner was served at 8:00 and at 9:30 there was a Perrier Jouet champagne Toast with composition written by Pulitzer Prize winner Frances FitzGerald which she composed especially for the evening.

Each guest received a signed copy of Central Park historian Sara Cedar Miller’s book, “Central Park – An American Masterpiece” and a Tiffany custom stationery gift.

Norma Dana and Eleanora Kennedy were co-chairmen of the evening, with a committee of prominent New Yorkers who gave generous support along with top chefs, designers and musicians.

The Central Park Conservancy was founded twenty-four years ago, the brainchild of Betsy Barlow Rodgers. It is a non-profit that manages Central Park in partnership with the City of New York. Since its inception, the Conservancy members have raised $300 million to transform the park into a model for urban parks worldwide.
