Indyssey Entertainment’s Grand Classics screening of John Schlesinger’s Darling this past Thursday at Soho House, hosted by Sofia Coppola, brought out a cool crowd of indy filmmakers, hipsters, fashionistas, and social swells.

Sofia, currently riding high with the hugely acclaimed Lost in Translation, presented the Julie Christie hit Darling, her favorite movie, to a packed house at this latest installment of the Grand Classics film series which continues to attract the best and brightest of Hollywood, New York, and London (recent presenters included Kevin Costner and Benicio Del Toro).

Among the super-cool crowd who attended the hot-ticket screening and after-party sponsored by The Week Magazine & Stoli, were Zoe Cassavetes, designers Anna Sui and Behnaz Sarafpour, Vanessa von Bismarck, Philippe Junot (ex-husband of Princess Caroline of Monaco), Helen and Tim Schifter, Dayssi and Paul Kanovas, Daniel Benedict, Zani Gugelmann, Jessica Craig-Martin, Antony Todd, Tinsley Mortimer, Christina Floyd, independent filmmaker Lawrence Blume (Martin & Orloff) with mom, famed writer Judy Blume, actor/writer Stephan Paternot (Wholly Moses), Miranda Brooks, Bruce Colley, Keith McNally, and Indyssey Entertainment heads and hosts Katrina Pavlos, Vanessa Wingate, and Andrew Saffir.

Last Thursday, Safe Horizon presented "In Our Own Words," a benefit evening of poetry & jazz at the Apollo Theater with featured Performances by Wycliffe Gordon, critically acclaimed trombonist, composer and arranger, spoken word artists Sonia Sanchez, Danny Beatty, and Kayo (as featured on HBO’s Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry), teen poets Pearl Kan and Najee Horne, named Young Voices of Def Poetry, and five-year-old spoken word sensation Autum Ashante.

Guests included: CEO Safe Horizon, Gordon J. Campbell, Malaak Compton-Rock, Stephanie March, Bobby Flay, Celerie Kimble, Quddus (MTV VJ), Manhattan Borough President, C. Virginia Fields.

Safe Horizon was founded in 1978, and has become the nation’s leading non profit victim assistance, advocacy and violence prevention organization. Safe Horizon pursues its mission every day through more than 80 programs in schools, courts, police precincts, domestic violence shelters, Child Advocacy Centers and 24-hour hotlines, helping more than 350,000 New Yorkers each year. Safe Horizon continues to play a critical role in aiding the victims of the Sept. 11th attack, distributing more than $100 million in emergency financial relief and providing counseling and support services to more than 45,000 individuals affected by the tragedy.
