Sheltering Arms Childrens Service held its 46th annual Paradise Ball at The Pierre Hotel. Bruce E. Mosler and Diana Taylor (escorted by Mayor Bloomberg) were honored for their outstanding commitment to New York City and its children.

Sheltering Arms Childrens Service is one of New York's leading non-profit organizations committed to offering the kind of comprehensive services it takes to deal with the complex problems of today's disadvantaged and abused inner city children. They serve over 3,000 children and their families daily in day care and special education for the very young, as well as foster care, adoption and after school programs and related services for children of all ages.

Kicking off the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's Associates Gala

This past Tuesday night, David and Rochelle Hirsch hosted an evening of cocktails at their home in appreciation of the Young Associates of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and to introduce them (thanks to Jeffrey Siegel) to the Gala Evening's program of Stravinsky, Bruch, and Mussorgsky.

The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra Associate's Gala Evening will be cochaired by Jason Hirsch and Philice and Michael Rosen and is to take place on Monday, December 15th with a concert at Carnegie Hall. The Program consists of Stravinsky's Pulcinella, Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1, and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Zubin Mehta will be conducting and Itzhak Perlman will dazzle on the violin. Dinner and dancing will follow immediately at The Plaza.

The Associates Program of the American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra is a group of young professionals, between the ages of 21 and 40, who share an appreciation of classical music and an interest in philanthropic support of Israel.

Proceeds from the event benefit the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The Orchestra will continue to travel throughout the world bringing its message of peace and cultural understanding through music. The Orchestra is an integral part of Israeli culture, renewing spirits and bringing comfort to its audience.

The opening night of Broadway's Wonderful Town

Wonderful Town is a revival of the 1953 musical, with music by Leonard Bernstein, that originally starred Roz Russell and Edie Adams and was a multiple Tony award winner. Following the opening performance, there was a star-studded gala to celebrate. Maidenform was a proud sponsor of the event. After the performance of Wonderful Town at at the Al Hirschfeld Theater, they held an after -party at the new Mandarin Oriental Hotel, at the Time Warner Center.

Guests included Lauren Bacall, Patrick Stewart, Delta Burke, James Earl Jones, Mario Cantone, Eartha Kitt, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Harvey Weinstein, in addition to the stars of Wonderful Town, Donna Murphy and Jennifer Westfeldt.
