It
was a mix of young uptown beauties and downtown divas
who came last Monday night to celebrate Quest magazine’s
MARDI GRAS party with a dine and dance evening for 100 at Man Ray,
the restaurant at 147 West 15 Street.
Chopards’
Stephanie Labeille made an entrance in chic Armani,
with lots of talk about Chopard’s sponsoring of The Cannes
Film festival awards for 2003. Jay Aston came with
Allison Luyten looking sexy, Elizabeth
Meigher wearing her grandma’s favorite vintage Pucci.
Terminally chic Mr. Christian Leone sported head
to toe Etro along with Ms. Elizabeth Loomis who
wore Julian Mc Donald. Gina de Franco, who organized
the festivities, wore tropical flowers in her hair and Halston couture.
She chatted over dinner with Deepak Chopra about
his four new book launches for 2003.

Included in
the admiring Chopra fans were The, Natalie Leeds
in YSL, Andrew and Jill Roosevelt (in Diane von
Furstenberg), Tinsley Mortimer, Eric Lysdahl; Mica and Ahmet
Ertegun. The great music impresario knew each song that
was played through the evening, and toasted the table with Tommy
Boy Records’, Tom Silverman and his gorgeous
wife Donna d'Cruz, who won best costume for the
night. The king of hip hop Afrika
Bambaataa
confided that he loved Country & Western and and is
a big fan of Patsy Cline.
There were belly dancers and drums that beat past midnight. In the
crowd: Mortimer Singer, Michael LaRocca, Andrew Saffir,
Daniel Benedict, Alexia Kondylis, the 6-foot beauty who
is often mistaken for Liv Tyler and who is doing
the interior designs for Donald Trump’s new
Delmonico. Her next project will be the design for the ballroom
at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. It was passed two when
the Monday revelers retired to their aeries uptown. |
