Seaman Schepps had a temporary store Southampton Hospital’s
Thrift Shop through last week. The renowned jeweler, established
in 1940 has had a dazzling array of clients including the Roosevelts,
the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, various and sundry Rockefellers,
Duponts, the British Royal Family, Andy Warhol,
and Marlene Dietrich to name only a few.
Thrift, incidentally is not a word one would normally associate
with Seaman Schepps dazzling jewelry. Razzle dazzle ‘em yes,
thrift, no.
Last month the jeweler held a luncheon at the Meadow Club in Southampton
and paid tribute to the Hospital's summer party past chairmen including
Adair Beutel, Charlotte Ford, Betty Sherrill and
Lynette Gittis. Best known for their signature
shell earrings of emerald, rubies and sapphires, Seaman Schepps
donated a portion of the sales from their “Thrift Shop”
date to benefit Southampton Hospital.
