Russia Saluted New York during Fashion Week at The Helen Yarmak Fashion Show
Broadway Star John Leguizamo, Opera Diva Renée Fleming and Lydia Hearst in her Runway Debut all walked the catwalk at the Helen Yarmak Fashion show to Benefit Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows' & Orphans' Fund last Tuesday (a week) here in New York.

Five hundred of the fashionista crowd filled the ballroom at Capitale to catch a glimpse of the VIP-studded runway for Yarmak’s Winter 2003/Spring 2004 collection featuring men’s and women’s Russian furs and fine jewelry.

Leguizamo modeled a shearling grey overturned men’s coat. Patty Hearst’s daughter Lydia made her runway debut. American Ballet Theater’s Prima Ballerina Irina Dvorovenko and her husband principal dancer Maxim Belotserkovsky modeled, as well as Uma Thurman’s brother, Mipam Thurman. Renée Fleming, was wrapped in a full length, white mink coat worn by Lisa Kudrow in the new Scott Rudin film “Marci X.” The designer donated the coat, valued at $18,000, to the UFA Widows and Orphan Fund in honor of the firefighters who lost their lives two years ago this week. Fleming was escorted by Fire Marshal Gregory Buday.

A new kind of model made her way down the catwalk yesterday at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Ten extraordinary "everyday women" won a nationwide contest to stride down the runway in the second annual Ortho Evra Every Woman Fashion Show.

These ten women were among more than 1,300 entrants selected for their inner beauty, personal style, leadership and achievement by an independent panel of judges. Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, from ABC's NYPD Blue, hosted the fashion show. The event introduced Spring 2004 fashions from designers David Rodriguez, R. Scott French, Silvia Tcherassi and Nordstrom's Halogen. Celebrity stylist Jeanne Yang was the show's chief wardrobe consultant and styled each woman's runway look.
