The
folks at Indyssey Entertainment, whose Grand
Classics film series features Hollywood’s hottest (Oscar
winners Benicio Del Toro, Sofia Coppola, Tim Robbins,
and next month’s host Natalie Portman)
presenting their favorite flicks, launched Grand Classics Films
With Style Tuesday night at Soho House, to an uber-glam crowd
of society bigwigs and fashion heavyweights. Michael
Kors and Hamish Bowles hosted the inaugural screening,
presenting Shampoo, the drop-dead stylish film of
1975, that starred Warren Beatty, Goldie Hawn, and
Julie Christie. Goldie, in a letter she wrote for
Michael and Hamish and the Grand Classics team, told of her
favorite on-set experiences while making the film, and closed
with “One never knows whether our films will hold up
or even matter as the years go on. This one has become the
classic for many reasons, all deserved. Great minds make great
films, and there were a few masterminds – not to mention
Master B’s (as Jack Nicholson called
Warren) - on that one. Lucky me.”
Following Goldie’s
letter, Michael and Hamish took the stage to introduce the film.
The always sartorially splendid Hamish gave a smart and savvy overview
of the film, while fashion superstar Michael said the film “is
about sex and style, and those are two things that never go out
of style." |
