The event was
held at Denise Rich’s “Swan’s
Way” Southampton estate to benefit the G&P Foundation
for Cancer Research, which was established in 1996 by Denise Rich and
her family in memory of her daughter, Gabrielle Rich Aouad,
who died at 27 from AML leukemia. The Foundation’s primary goal
is to save lives by funding basic and clinical medical research in
both conventional
and complimentary disciplines, which focus on prevention, treatments
and quality-of-life issues of leukemia, lymphoma and related cancers.
The G&P Foundation is recognized as one of the largest non-governmental
sources of grant support to blood cancer researchers at the nation’s
leading institutions and has awarded a total of $4.2 million dollars
in Medical Research Grants (www.gpfoundation.com).
Guests were treated to performances by Grammy Award-winning vocalist Michael
Bolton, Tony-nominated actress Daphne Rubin-Vega and
New York’s hottest DJ, Beverly Bond.
There was a live auction
of a special edition Rolls-Royce
Centenary Phantom luxury sedan, one of only 35 produced by the fabled
British motorcar builder to celebrate its 100th anniversary (it was
also the official U.S. debut of the Rolls-Royce 100EX, the stunning
$5 million convertible
that was the star the
2004 Geneva Motorshow); private
jet travel time with NetJets/Marquis Jet Partners; a trip to Napa
Valley to take part in Robb Report’s annual “Car
of the Year” test-driving event; an exclusive one week vacation
at a One and Only Resort; an advanced screening for 20 of the Miramax
film Shall We Dance; featuring Jennifer Lopez and Richard
Gere; and
Super Bowl package including two tickets to Super Bowl XXXVIX in
Jacksonville, Florida. |
