The Children’s Health Fund (CHF), co-founded by singer/songwriter Paul Simon and pediatrician/child advocate Irwin Redlener, M.D., hosted its inaugural charity luncheon at the United States Polo Association’s (USPA) Gold Cup Final Match on a Sunday in September at the Greenwich Polo Club in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Gary Knell, Paul Shaffer, Elmo, Irwin Redlener, M.D., and Karen Redlener with a group of young guests
The family-friendly charity luncheon (with décor by Versace) and polo match was attended by philanthropic and business leaders from throughout the tri-state area, as well as an impressive list of celebrity supporters. Gary E. Knell, President and CEO of the Sesame Workshop, and Elmo were honored for the work Sesame Workshop has done for children across the globe over the years.

The luncheon was hosted by Paul Simon and Edie Brickell and Dr. and Mrs. Redlener. Event chairs were Peter Brant and Stephanie Seymour Brant. Master of ceremonies was Paul Shaffer. At 3 pm, they held the final Polo Match.

CHF is one of the nation’s largest providers of medical care to homeless and disadvantaged children. It is committed to providing health care to the nation’s most medically underserved children through the development and support of innovative pediatric programs and the promotion of guaranteed access to appropriate health care for all children. To date, The Children’s Health Fund’s national network of 17 pediatric programs has treated more than 350,000 children. For more information visit www.childrenshealthfund.org.
