Last
week over at the beautiful Cartier Mansion on
Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street, Zac Posen, Cynthia McFadden and Harold
Koda, the director
of the Costume Institute of the Met, and Stanislas de Quercize hosted
a book party for the beautiful Kelly Killoren Bensimon and her new
book American Style (Assouline).

So with all those
names at the top of the invitation, you can be sure that New Yorkers
in-the-know- and New Yorkers who wanna be in
the know showed up. (Me, I was over at The Plaza at the Living Landmarks
dinner. Living Landmarks are not only in the know, they are
the Authority — at least I like to think so.)
Nevertheless, back at the ranch, that being Cartier where the rich,
the famous, the knights of the realm and the kings and their misses
flock for their baubles, bangles (diamonds, rubies, emeralds, sapphires),
watches (tanks anybody?) and whatnots, they had a gala crowd unto
themselves. Anthony Edwards, Jessica Seinfeld, Jill Stuart,
Arnold Scaasi, and Nicole Miller; Fern Mallis; Aerin Lauder, Deborah
Roberts (Mrs. Al Roker), Carmen
Dell’Orefice, Judy Licht, John Bartlett,
Rory Tahari, Sally Albemarle, Gigi Mortimer, Anne Tenenbaum, Cece
Cord, Jonathan Tisch (who’s got a new book of his own out now
too), Ann Barish, Derek Lam, Jamie and Steve Tisch, Alvin
Valley, Hal Rubenstein, Lisa Birnbach, Anne Grauso, Debbie and Allen
Grubman,
Lizzie Grubman, Sloan Barnett, Eva Lorenzotti, Michael and Ninah
Lynne. Enough? Don’t worry, there were more.
Mrs. Bensimon is the wife of the great French photographer Gilles,
who is also publication director for American Elle. Her publisher,
Assouline, like her husband’s, is also French based and they
are even beginning to sell their books like Elle sells their magazines – on
stands (boutiques in this case) in some of the better stores like
Bergdorfs, Saks, with plans to open more in the better stores here
there and everywhere including China and Japan. |
