Tuesday night the New York Landmarks Conservancy held its annual “Living Landmarks” Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street. Big crowd of several hundred including many prominent New Yorkers turned out to see Tom and Meredith Brokaw, Mario and Matilda Cuomo who were given the Lew Rudin Award for Outstanding Public Service; Barry Diller and Diane von Furstenberg, Norman and Norris Church Mailer, and Howard and Amy Rubenstein. Peg Breen, president of New York Landmarks Conservancy opened the evening with a video presentation and Liz Smith, the city’s eminent ambassador of good will and good jibes, hosted the evening. Peter Duchin and his orchestra played.

More than 300 turned out for the benefit preview of POSH Interiors: The House Sale, the exciting new annual sale from Lighthouse International that opened October 18.
Many of the city’s top interior designers contributed “vignettes” and items including Jeffrey Bilhuber, Mario Buatta, Kenneth Hockin and Susan Rosenthal. Iris Apfel, fashion icon and supporter of the Lighthouse also attended.
Benefiting the esteemed 101 year old New York organization that treats people with vision loss, POSH Interiors featured more than 900 top quality items that were donated by companies like Clarence House, Brunschwig et Fils, David Duncan Antiques, Lee Jofa as well as private individuals with superb taste.
According to Dr. Tara Cortes, RN. PhD. President and CEO of Lighthouse International “The crowd, the enthusiasm and the 900 items exceeded our expectations. I am grateful to the generosity of the designers who contributed their time and talent and to our donors and friends for making our kick off event so successful. Like our annual Posh Designer Fashion Sale I think this will soon become a New York institution.” It is certainly a practical and spectacular way to shop.
Shoppers found a huge array of bargains -- from 18th century antiques to 21st century moderne; crystal chandeliers, sofas, screens, dining tables, china, fabrics and paintings. The sale was open to the public October 19th and 20th with sale items were 60 and 90% below retail.

Last Wednesday night at the Waldorf, more than 500 guests attended the Celebrate Montefiore 2006 gala benefiting Montefiore Medical Center.
They honored Jay B. Langner, Chairman, Montefiore Medical Center Board of Trustees, and T. Byram Karasu, M.D., Silverman Professor and the University Chairman, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center.
