Last month, before Halloween, the 18th Annual Light Up A Life “lit up" Toys "R" Us Times Square, providing food, fun, and entertainment for the whole family during a Spook-tacular Halloween Bash to benefit hospitalized children at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, including families who are unable to cover the cost of healthcare. All donations will help offer emotional support and cheer through the "Clown Care Program," which ensures that underserved patients receive the finest medical care regardless of their ability to pay.
Witches, ghouls and goblins of all ages joined more than 1,000 children, parents and grandparents in this Halloween-themed celebration. Attendees rode the indoor Ferris wheel; saw exciting performances by musicians, clowns, and characters; and hands-on, Halloween-themed activities.
This spirited affair was hosted by Light Up a Life Honorary Chairs Hugh Jackman and Kate Spade, Founding Chair Kathleen Burns, Event Chairs Cass Adelman and Catherine Shepard, and the Pediatric Support Committee.
Guests also jested with the Big Apple Circus clowns and saw performances by Arnie Kolodner Magic, John and Natalia Fogarty, "Magic Al" Garber, the New York Lyric Circus, Spank, and Total Entertainment. Interactive entertainment included balloon art, juggling, pumpkin carving, face painting with noted face painter Donatella Gagliano, and cooking with Michael Salmon, Chef from Air America's Wild Salmon. Pokemon and the 501st Northeast Remnant Star Wars characters also joined in the festivities.
