Wedding days ...

Guests of the Castle wedding on a tour of Mar-a-Lago.

Guests flew into Palm Beach from all over the world last November for the wedding of Rosanna Zimbaro to John Sherman Castle. The four-day weekend began with a dinner given on Thursday by the groom’s parents, Marianne and John Castle at Club Colette. On Friday, guests golfed at the Trump International Golf Course and the weekend continued with a tour of the Norton Museum and a luncheon at the Sailfish Club, which was also hosted by the Castles.

Then on Friday evening, guests attended a dinner given by the Castles at their home Castillo Del Mar, which was formerly the Joseph P. Kennedy mansion and JFK’s Winter White House.

The entire Castle family went to Palm Beach for the wedding. Dr. James Castle and his wife Amanda and their son Daniel from Stamford, Connecticut, and William Castle and his wife Tracy and their daughter Charlotte came from Alexandria, Virginia. Also in attendance were Mrs. Castle’s mother, the groom’s grandmother Rita Sherman, and the groom’s great aunt Regina Sherman.

The theme of Friday night’s party was “South Seas” with a menu from Trader Vic’s along with their famous Mai Tai and Scorpion drinks.  More than 200 dined on Maine lobster, hearts of palm, rack of lamb, mushroom ravioli and chocolate desserts.  The evening’s spectacular tent was paneled with Gauguin prints and laden with candles and masses of tropical flowers.

Then on Saturday came the wedding. Guests were transported from their hotels to St. Edward’s Catholic Church in glass enclosed trolley.

The couple were married with Father Francis J. Lechiara performing the ceremony. The bride’s dress was created by Vera Wang who also dressed the Maid of Honor Elizabeth Zimbaro and the Matron of Honor, Danielle Zimbaro.

Bridesmaids were Kerry Bartelemucci, Sarah Dolder, Michelle Lyn, Meegan Motisi and Natalia Parsons, and flower girl was Grace Desiderio.

After the ceremony there was a black tie reception and dinner dance at the Flagler Museum. The museum was decorated with masses of calla lilies. Guests dined on smoked salmon, filet of beef, asparagus, wedding cake and champagne. And danced the night away.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aldo Zimbaro of Scarsdale, New York, is a graduate of the Ursaline Academy and Fordham University and is employed by the Estee Lauder Company, where she manages creative projects for Clinique Travel Retailing. The bride’s father is a partner in 106 Associates LLC, a private real estate investment company in New York.

The bridegroom graduated cum laude from Harvard in 1995 and the Harvard Business School in 2000. He is a Senior Vice President of Branford Castle, Inc., an investment company in New York. The groom is the eighth great-grandson of the Reverend James Pierpont, the moving founder of Yale University who graduated from Harvard in 1681.  He is also a direct descendent of Thomas Willets, the second governor of the Plimouth Plantation and the first English mayor of New York. He is also a direct descendent of Captain Phinius Castle who led th Continental Army in northwest Connecticut during the American Revolutionary War.

The groom’s father John K. Castle is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Castle Harlan, Inc., a private equity firm in New York.  He is also Chairman of Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publisher of America’s Top Doctors and other references which help the public identify the best health care resources. Previously he had been President and CEO of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette.

The weekend ended with a tour of Mar-a-Lago, followed by a luncheon at the famous mansion.

They celebrated the holiday season over at Brooks Brothers with a company wide initiative to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the start of its annual Thanks & Giving fund raising campaign.

Brooks Brothers partnered with Cookie Magazine to host a holiday party at the flagship store at 346 Madison Avenue. There were special appearances by Marlo Thomas, Christopher Radko, and Santa Claus. There was holiday eggnog, hot cider and hors d’oeuvres and a special performance by Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Thanks and Giving was created by Marlo Thomas and her siblings Terre and Tony Thomas, children of hospital founder Danny Thomas. The campaign asks donors to “give thanks for the healthy children in your life and give to those who are not.”
