Designers For Darfur, founded by designer Malcolm Harris (Mal Sirrah, Inc.) and model Lydia Hearst-Shaw, in association with “FT-Fashion Television” and Steve Madden, hosted a charity fashion show to raise funds and awareness on behalf of the Save Darfur Coalition.

For the event, close to 100 of America’s leading designers each created a complete ensemble in red, yellow, green or black and featured in a star-studded fashion show. The fashion industry’s top models, hair and make-up artists as well as wardrobe stylists contributed their time, talent and assistance to show commitment and solidarity toward ending the atrocity of genocide currently taking place in Darfur.

Participating runway designers included: Mal Sirrah, Donna Karan, L.A.M.B., Heatherette, Baby Phat,Chado Ralph Ru and & Chris, Carlos Miele, John Bartlett, Bonnie Young, Luca Luca, Nicole Miller, Costume National and many, many more.

Steve Madden was the presenting sponsor and providing footwear for all the designers. The Fashion Show was streamed live on eBay followed by a live auction of the specially-created runway designs with 100% of all profits going directly to the Save Darfur Coalition.

Wednesday night, two weeks ago, at the Salvatore Ferragamo Gallery of the flagship store on Fifth Avenue, they celebrated the opening night of “Water”, a contemporary art show curated by Blair Voltz Clarke on behalf of Salvatore Ferragamo. The event benefited Riverkeeper, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. ’s organization. Riverkeeper’s mission is to protect the environmental, recreational and commercial integrity of the Hudson River and its tributaries, and to safeguard New York City's and Westchester County's drinking water supply.

While Mr. Kennedy’s work gets attention because of his high profile name, its crucial importance continues to go largely unheralded, which is ironic considering the fact that without clean water to drink (and wash and wash our fruits and vegetables in), we will be deprived of long and healthy lives.

Meanwhile, in the gallery guests enjoyed the works of Oliver Boberg, Adam Cvijanovic, Sandra Hamburg, Stuart Hawkins, McKendree Key, Cmeron Martin, Vincent Mazeau, Lordy Rodriguez, Peter Sarkisian, Mike Solomon, Alec Soth, Royb Wynne and Art Production Fund.

The event brought out the glittery young social set with its stars Ivanka Trump, Amanda Hearst, Lauren Bush, Lorraine Bracco, Tinsley Mortimer, Casey Spooner, Lorenzo Borghese, Carson Kressley, Robert Verdi, Will Cotton, Mrs. Clarke, Celerie Kemble, Gillian Hearst, Euan Rellie, Dabney Mercer, Becca Cason Thrash, CeCe Cord, Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict, and Barbara Wilhelm.
