Our annual Christmas and Holiday card page

Better late than never. Photo: JH.
Monday, December 26, 2016. It was a warm and mild Christmas yesterday in New York with temps in the high 40s to low 50s and the city was very quiet.

Today is our annual Christmas and Holiday card page. We get a lot of cards with family photos. What always interests me is comparing the changes in the subjects, especially the children. Growing up. It’s always a miracle to these eyes. For many years Charlotte Ford has included her grandchildren on her card. This year’s card really made a statement: they not children anymore. There is grandmother and her pride and joy (and they are!) and they’re all taller than she is.
We pulled up Charlotte’s card from thirteen or fourteen years ago just to show you her miracle.
Emailing the holiday greeting is obviously becoming more popular. Although the family – be it the children, the animals or grandpa, is still design of choice. There are some interesting exceptions. Harry and Gigi Benson’s card is a photograph on a man on the horse drawn sleigh in snow country. That used to be one of the most popular images for holiday cards. “Over-the-river-and-through-the-woods, to grandmother’s house we go…” The question people have been asking is: who’s the guy in the sleigh? I don’t think it’s Harry, assuming he was the one taking the picture.
