3.29.07 - Among the much photographed, yesterday we had one woman in party pictures on three different occasions in Moscow and New York. Like the “new socialites,” Janna Bullock, a Russian-born, Americanized real estate developer is also fairly new on the social scene in New York. But she has also made a serious impact as an active member of the business and philanthropic/cultural community.

When she was first in New York, she worked for a Manhattan law firm. Then she enrolled at Duke and got her MBA.

Mother of two, Janna grew up in St. Petersburg under the old Soviet regime. She came to the United States during Perestroika, fell in love with New York  and moved here 17 years ago.  An historian and landmark preservationist, Janna specializes in buying and restoring (and selling) historic properties for use as single family homes in Manhattan, Southampton, London, Moscow, Paris, St. Tropez and Gstaad. That’s a lot of territory to cover and Janna covers it effortlessly moving from place to place on her private jet.

In the last few years, she has expanded her business and got involved in large-scale projects and establishing the RI Group an internationally renowned, development company with big business on two continents. She has 10 million square feet of property under development in Russia, with plans to construct shopping malls and apartment buildings in her native country where she spends half the year with her husband.

Here in New York Janna Bullock generously supports numerous philanthropic organizations including The Russian National Orchestra, The Juilliard School, The School of America Ballet, The Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, Safe Horizon, The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, and The Parrish Art Museum.
