14th Annual Carle Honors

On Thursday, September 26, children’s book artists, authors, and champions will gather for the fourteenth annual Carle Honors, the annual awards ceremony and fundraising gala for The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. The gala will recognize four honorees for their exceptional work in the world of children’s literature.

The event hosts are Grace Lin, Caldecott-honor artist and Newbery-honor author, and Alvina Ling, venerable book editor. The two are lifelong friends and co-hosts of the Book Friends Forever podcast.

The 2019 Carle Honors honorees are:
—Melissa Sweet, Artist: for lifelong innovation in the field
—REFORMA, Angel, represented by Kenny Garcia: for individuals whose generous resources make picture book art exhibitions and education programs a reality
—Chihiro Art Museum, Bridge, represented by Takeshi Matsumoto: for those who have found inspired ways to bring the art of the picture book to larger audiences through work in other fields
—David Saylor, Mentor: for the editors, designers, and educators who champion the art form
