2019 Science Barge Opening

Please join Groundwork Hudson Valley for the the 2019 Science Barge Opening on Saturday, May 11th, from 12PM to 4PM. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony led by Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano at 12:30PM along with a tribute to Captain Bob Walters, who retired, as the Director of the Science Barge, earlier this year. The Science Barge returned back to Yonkers, in early April, after undergoing maintenance, repairs and upgrades of the Greenhouse heating system, this winter, thanks to a generous grant from NY State Department of Environmental Conservation.

The Science Barge Opening will attract over 300 attendees and offer a variety of different free activities such as crab and eel catching, hands on science experiments, live music from The Greenheart, and a number of different local food trucks.
