Symphony Space, the performing arts center known for its ground breaking music, literary, film, family, and arts education programs, will honor Jane Curtin, Elaine Hochberg, and Judith Zabar at the 2019 Spring Gala at Capitale on Monday, May 13, 2019. Jane Curtin, whose artistry has graced Symphony Space stages and airwaves since its earliest days, will receive an award presented by Samantha Bee, host of the Emmy Award-winning Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Symphony Space Board Vice Chair Elaine Hochberg, whose vision and leadership are propelling Symphony Space toward a stronger tomorrow, will receive an award presented by Sonia Manzano, the award-winning author known to millions as Sesame Street’s Maria. Judith Zabar, whose belief in access and opportunity placed her at the forefront of arts education, will receive an award presented by Omo Misha, a Symphony Space Global Arts Teaching Artist. The evening, which will take place at Capitale located at 130 Bowery in lower Manhattan, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, and will continue with dinner and musical performances by Jason Gotay, Sarah Stewart Chapin, Darlesia Cearcy, Rebecca Faulkenberry, Julia Murney, and Bre Freeman. Peter Francis James will serve as auctioneer for the evening. All proceeds will benefit the performing arts and education programs at Symphony Space, a non-profit organization.Event Calendar
