Each year the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF), hosts the National Equal Justice Awards Dinner (NEJAD), an annual event that recognizes and honors those who have demonstrated a commitment to the promotion of racial justice and criminal justice reform. The Event is attended by more than 700 of the most influential philanthropists, business leaders, lawyers, artists and civil rights advocates. Past honorees include 2018 recipients U. W. Clemon, Marian Wright Edelman, Bryan Stevenson, and P. Roy and Diana Vagelos as well as an illustrious group of past awardees including Agnes Gund, John Legend, President Gerald R. Ford and Mrs. Elizabeth (Betty) Ford, President William Jefferson Clinton, the Honorable Eric H. Holder, Jr., the Honorable William T. Coleman, Jr., congressman John Lewis, George Soros, Vernon E.
