ADHD & The Highly Sensitive Brain w/ Bianca Acevedo, PhD
Are you easily overwhelmed by bright lights, strong smells, coarse fabrics, or loud sirens? You may have sensory processing sensitivity (SPS) — an informal category — and be a highly sensitive person. Some people have this trait, and the propensity is even higher among people with ADHD.
On February 2, you’ll learn about:
— The symptoms of SPS and how it affects the brain.
— How the ADHD tendency to ruminate and overthink can interact with SPS.
— How to manage SPS alongside ADHD.
Neuroscientist Bianca Acevedo (www.biancaacevedo.com) is a researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara. There, she works in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Dr. Bianca is an expert in SPS, love, and attachment. She co-authored and edited the recent book, The Highly Sensitive Brain. She is the developer of the LoveSmart app and was the recipient of a 2012 International Women in Science Award.
