Formula E Hosts Championship In New York City
July 13 @ 7:00 AM - July 14 @ 7:00 PM
On July 13th and 14th, the ABB FIA Formula E Championship returns to the streets of New York City for its double-header grand finale at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal. Following stops in historic cities like Rome, Paris, Hong Kong, and Mexico City, the two races that weekend will close out the season and a champion will be crowned.
Over the past five years, Formula E has become massively popular worldwide for its unpredictability, young-skewing audience, city center racing electric vehicles. With nine global car brands like Audi, BMW, and Nissan going head to head in season five, Formula E is more than just a racing series. It is a testing ground to develop new technologies and refine the design of electric vehicles that will improve the driving experience for everyday road car users all over the world.
Formula E debuted their second generation Batmobile-esque cars this year with more power, greater speeds, and a battery with double the energy storage capacity. Sustainability and changing the future of mobility are key for Formula E and companies like Porsche and Mercedes-Benz are already signed on for season six to join in the movement.
This season, all races are a total of 45 minutes plus one lap – so team’s must be sure to manage their energy usage and battery power. Formula E has also introduced a Mario Kart-inspired Attack Mode which rewards drivers with extra 25kw of power when they drive through the activation zone.
