IAS Einstein Gala, Institute for Advanced Study

March 12, 2020 @ 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

$1,500

The Gala will gather a distinguished audience to honor Sir James Wolfensohn, former president of the World Bank and IAS’s longest-serving Chairman of the Board of Trustees (1986-2007). Proceeds will benefit the IAS, which since 1930 has convened the greatest thinkers and enabled them to conduct the kind of creative theoretical inquiry that pushes the boundaries of knowledge. Albert Einstein was among the Institute’s first professors and is the most universally known Institute scholar. Over time, IAS has produced an astounding record of introducing new understanding and is responsible for undeniable progress across disciplines and generations, from the development of one of the first stored-program computers to the establishment of art history as a discipline in the United States. Among its present and past Faculty and Members are 33 Nobel Laureates, 42 of the 60 Fields Medalists, and 18 of the 20 Abel Prize Laureates, as well as many MacArthur Fellows and Wolf Prize winners.
