Limon Dance Company

The renowned Limon Dance Company will celebrate its 75th anniversary season with live performances at the Joyce Theater, April 19-May 1 – 2 weeks, 2 different programs of works by Jose Limon and contemporary guest choreographers. Week 1 program: “Chaconne” and “Psalm” by Limon, “Air for the G String” by Doris Humphrey, and the new “Only One Will Rise” by Olivier Tarpaga of Burkina Faso. Week 2 program: “Danzas Mexicanas” (1939 – one of Limon’s earlest works), “Waldstein Sonata” (1971) his last work, and the new “Migrant Mother” by Mexican choreographer Raul Tamez. Under the artistic direction of Dante Puleio, the Limon Dance Company continues to honor its legacy while presenting new works by both established and emerging choreographers.
