Liu Shiming: Sculpture as Truth, a Gallery Talk Led by Richard Vine

May 15 @ 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Free

“Liu Shiming: Sculpture as Truth,” a richly illustrated talk led by former Art in America Editor, Richard Vine, will trace Liu Shiming’s remarkable personal journey, placing the idiosyncratic artist in the context of postwar sculpture both in China and abroad. Its major emphasis will be on distinguishing verisimilitude, with its susceptibility to visual rhetoric, from direct and honest observation. Q&A to follow.
