Victorian -era photographer Alice Austen, was a bold, artistic rebel much like Isadora Duncan. Join Lori Belilove & The Isadora Duncan Dance Company for a afternoon performance on the waterfront lawn of the Alice Austen Museum, her family home. Bring a lawn chair, or picnic blanket and enjoy!
In this historic site, the dancers will breathe new life into the Isadora Duncan legendary solos and exhilarating group works. Raw and unassuming, vibrant and sensual, the dancers are swathed in silk and borne aloft by the brilliant musicality of Duncan’s choreography.
Last on the program, is a reimagined new work, “For Ukraine” set to the Ukrainian National Anthem, in which Artistic Director Lori Belilove and her Company pay homage to the heroic valor and grit of the Ukrainian people. Belilove, herself a descendant of Ukrainian ancestry, reimagines these dances that evoke the cry, the terror, the loss.
