New Rockefeller Center Free Music Series Highlights NYC Labels
March 27, 2020 @ 10:00 PM - March 28, 2020 @ 3:00 AM
Free
Rockefeller Center presents a new free music series that pays tribute to a selection of New York record labels that have helped to shape the musical landscape of the city, starting with a tribute to DFA Records, on Friday, March 27th at 10:00 p.m.
Hosted at Rainbow Room, the historic New York City landmark and iconic event space atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the event is free and open to the public ages 21+, though advance RSVP is required. Guests should enter at 49 West 49th Street (located between Fifth and Sixth Avenues), Manhattan.
DFA Records, the legendary label co-founded by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem in 2001, is the first label to be recognized in the series, and the all-DFA soiree will include an intimate live show from The Rapture, who recently regrouped to revive their unique sound that blends new rave, acid house, disco & indie rock. Art-rock ensemble Guerilla Toss also will perform live, and dancing continues late with DJ sets from Lovefingers, Perel, Kim Ann Foxman, and Love Injection with Paul & Barbie.
Guests can RSVP at rockefellercenter.com starting on Wednesday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m.
Each quarter, a different New York-based record label will be featured in the free series. For a list of live performers, DJs, and the most updated information, visit rockefellercenter.com and follow Rockefeller Center on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
The new music series is the latest in the longstanding tradition of public programming at Rockefeller Center, where visitors regularly can enjoy free public art installations, live performances, family activities, and collaborations with other New York City-based institutions and organizations.
