New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) is pleased to announce that it will honor Joseph Conyers, Assistant Principal Bass of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Co-Founder and Executive Director of Project 440, with the Theodore L. Kesselman Award for Arts Education at the NYYS 57th Annual Benefit Gala on Monday, October 21, at 6:30 PM, at Tribeca Rooftop. The Kesselman Award, presented by Project 440’s Director of Programs Susanna Loewy, recognizes Mr. Conyers’s outstanding dedication to inspiring and nurturing the musical growth of the next generation of young musicians. Melissa Eisenstat, President of the NYYS from 2012-2019, will be honored with the Leslie and Johanna Garfield Award for Arts Philanthropy, presented by Sarah Lee, former Director of Operations at KIPP Academy Charter School. The Garfield Award recognizes Ms. Eisenstat’s exemplary philanthropy to the New York Youth Symphony and throughout the arts community. Mr. Conyers’ and Ms. Eisenstat’s successes across the arts are shining examples for the younger generation, especially students of the NYYS.Event Calendar
