Join CONNECTnyc.org in celebrating sixteen years of service to New York City at the Peace & Justice Awards Dinner on March 18th at Harlem’s historic Alhambra Ballroom. CONNECT is a NYC-based training and educational nonprofit organization, led by Co-Executive Directors Quentin Walcott and Rev. Dr. Sally N. MacNichol. CONNECT is dedicated to preventing and ending interpersonal violence through transformative education and community-building. The CONNECT Training institute (CTI) and Community Empowerment Program (CEP) hold over 350 events a year, including trainings for community professionals and workshops for women, men and youth. CONNECT has engaged more than 200 community partners in their efforts to eliminate interpersonal violence. CONNECT will honor Eve Ensler, creator of The Vagina Monologues; Jimmie Briggs, documentary storyteller and activist; Pamela Shifman, former Executive Director of the NoVo Foundation; and Rev. Dr. Traci C. West, Professor of Christian Ethics and African American Studies at Drew University (NJ). The Master of Ceremonies of the evening is award-winning poet, playwright, musician and novelist, Carl Hancock Rux. The Peace & Justice Awards Dinner features dining and dancing, an open bar, a silent auction, and performances by Carl Hancock Rux and singer-actress, Marcelle Davies-Lashley.
