Urban Sketching for Beginners with Kevin Zych at Kimpton Hotel Theta

Known for his engaging art classes focused on urban sketching, Kevin Zych will lead a beginner-friendly class focused on the design elements of Kimpton Hotel Theta on Saturday, May 11, from 2:30-4 pm. Originally imagined by Morris Lapidus, the famed architect synonymous with the iconic buildings found throughout Miami Beach, the hotel’s design draws inspiration from his legacy while blending old with new through asymmetric details, gentle layering, and rich textures. Open to the public and hotel guests alike, attendees will explore the hotel’s art and history while receiving step-by-step instructions on how to go from drawing novice to sketch expert in just 90 minutes through three key exercises. All materials will be provided, including pens and sketchbooks.
