See you on the Avenue!

Break out the band and start marching! Madison Avenue Retailers are opening their doors (with open arms) for the next three Saturdays. They need our business, and we could certainly use the fashion embrace now more than ever!

Beginning Saturday, September 12th, the shops between East 57th & East 67th Streets are featured.  Saturday, September 26th will feature the shops between East 67th and East 77th Streets, and Saturday, October 3rd, the shops between East 77th and East 86th Streets are it. Enjoy unique shopping perks and experiences and music on the street while dining al fresco at some of the city’s finest dining establishments.

Hilary and I decided to kick off the first Welcome Back Saturday with a preview of what’s in store, spotting the trends we are tracking for fall.

Red dresses are having their moment (LRD!), here at Alice and Olivia.
Mark Jacobs Leatherette, $695

Alice + Olivia Mock Neck, $495

Red Valentino Puff Sleeved, $595.

Urban cowgirl flair at Alice and Olivia.
NOTE: Fringe is way in!

And so are neutrals — a natural pairing.

Clockwise from above: Alice + Olivia Patchwork Sweater, $595; Giorgio Armani Jersey Sweater, $975; Michael Kors Fringe Suede Skirt, $495.

Etro Fringed Jacket, $1,390 … Saint Laurent Fringe Shoulder Bag, $1,290.

Gratitude rules.

Hilary is pursuing Tory Burch for her selections …

“Madison Avenue is my go-to for shopping in-person boutiques. Charming and chic, it is the place for fabulous finds and delicious eats. Like our city as a whole … it needs our attention now more than ever. As we stopped into this week’s featured stores, I found the pieces below for a bit of that fall feeling. And of course, I just had to have the Etro masks … as an update to what is now the new norm for any fashionable look.”

Dress: Alice and Olivia Lexia Puff Sleeve Midi Dress, $350. Top: Etro Floral Print Silk Shirt, $960. Bottom: Tory Burch Cropped Boot-Cut Jeans, $198. Accessories: Etro Masks, $60 / Tom Ford Feather Earrings, $890 / Tory Burch McGraw Embossed Bucket Bag, $398. Shoes: Tory Burch Tory Loafer, $398.

On the corner of 62nd & Fifth (the “Hermes” corner), we ran into jewelry designer Jennifer Creel looking stunning (of course) and, except for the mask, like a heroine sprung from the pages of Jane Austin. Speaking of, Victorian Romance is another fall trend, which is continuing.  In the state of gloom and doom, it is a comforting style.

A sign of the times from Jennifer Creel Jewelry.

Then we ran into Catherine Carey on the corner, on her way to Hermes. She had just come from a nasal swab at Grace Church, which is requiring the families of attending students be tested. (hint: #OpenOurSchools)

A real friend …
… fixes your mask!

I’ve had my eye on the Hermes Apple Watch for some time.  Love the new band. They’ve also introduced a new scent in Le Jardin Collection. Must try!

Hermes Double Tour, $1,399 … Un Jardin Sur La Lagune, a floral and woody Eau de Toilette, $139.

Leather is a perennial preference in fall.  We fell in love with this Alice and Olivia coat, a perfect layering piece for this transitional season.

Alice + Olivia Croc Leather Coat, $1,595.

Frances Valentine is back in town.

Frances Valentine toppers elevate any evening look, whether entertaining at home or dining al fresco.

Frances Valentine Platino Topper, $698

Why not accessorize with Oscar de la Renta Cascade Earrings, $350 &  Oscar de la Renta Gold Saffiano, $1,700?
Fall’s jewels and jewel tones at Frances Valentine.

Still at Frances Valentine, we found these vibrant caftans to lift the spirits.

Comfy At Home Wear never goes out of style. Just ask Tory.

Plaid, preppy, & Ivy all IN again — happens every fall.

Tory creates her own interpretation with these luxurious pieces.

Tory Burch Madras Dickey Pullover, $495

Tory Burch Sunburst Pleated Skirt, $595 … Madras Silk Dupioni Dress, $795.

It was reassuring to see that most people are masking up these days and boutiques have taken up the trend.  It is the new “accessory” and there are so many.  For more styles, read our NYSD Facesaving Masks.

On the Avenue …

A sight for sore eyes —  A coffee break!

News just broke that NYC Restaurants will be opening to reduced numbers on September 30th. Hallelujah! They are a driving force in our city’s economy and provide unmeasurable sustenance to body and soul.
