Red Door Community, formerly the founding Gilda’s Club New York City, hosted its highly anticipated annual Celebrating Women Working & Living with Cancer Benefit Luncheon at the Metropolitan Club. This extraordinary event brought together roughly 200 professionals representing a diverse range of industries, including biopharmaceutical, investment banking, legal, advertising, and cosmetic, among others. The luncheon served as a powerful platform to celebrate women living with cancer and their remarkable achievements, while supporting Red Door Community’s free comprehensive cancer support program for cancer patients and their families, delivered through both virtual and in-person programming.
The 2023 Celebrating Women’s Luncheon exceeded all expectations, becoming the most successful Benefit Luncheon in the history of Red Door Community. The success of the event was made possible by the unwavering support and generosity of all the event’s sponsors, including the Red Door Benefactor, Goldman Sachs. Their commitment to Red Door Community’s mission and dedication to helping RDC expand its free cancer support program will have a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals.
This year, Red Door Community honored two exceptional leaders in the healthcare industry. Jo Natauri, Partner and Global Head of Healthcare Private Investing at Goldman Sachs, and Debbie Salas-Lopez, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President of Community and Population Health at Northwell Health, received the prestigious Red Door Award for Leadership for their unwavering dedication to push barriers in the healthcare industry and make a difference in the lives of others.
The Celebrating Women’s Luncheon was skillfully hosted by Gerri Willis, Anchor and Correspondent of Fox Business Network. Her presence and consistent dedication to raising awareness for Red Door Community’s free cancer support program added an exceptional touch to the event. Sebastian Clarke, appraiser from Antiques Roadshow, lent his expertise as the auctioneer, creating an engaging atmosphere and contributing to the event’s overall success.

Last Wednesday eve, El Museo, a renowned cultural institution dedicated to promoting Latinx and Latin American art, held an exclusive cocktail event at the elegant residence of Maria Eugenia Maury and Bill Haseltine. The event served as the official kick-off for the highly anticipated Gala on September 7, 2023.
This year’s Gala marks a triumphant return after a brief hiatus, making it a momentous occasion for both the museum and its supporters. Also in attendance were Gala Co-Chairs Karla Harwich and Karla Martinez de Salas, Jack McCollough & Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler, and Designer Willy Chavarria.
The evening brought together esteemed guests, prominent figures, and ardent art enthusiasts in a celebration of El Museo’s mission and the vibrant cultural heritage it represents. Maria Eugenia Maury, Chairman of the Board and Gala Co-Chair, welcomed the attendees with warm hospitality, providing a captivating backdrop for the evening’s festivities.
Patrick Charpenel, the museum director, also addressed the audience, expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support received throughout the Gala planning process. He highlighted the significance of the Gala’s return after a brief hiatus and emphasized the institution’s commitment to continuing its vital work in the community.
Coco Fusco, who will be honored, spoke and thanked the museum for the early commitment to her work and expressed her gratitude for being selected as an honoree for the upcoming gala.
Manhattan School of Music (MSM) hosted its 2023 Gala at The Rainbow Room in New York City. The gala honored long-time members of the MSM Board of Trustees Marcia Clay Hamilton and Edward Lowenthal. A celebration of the School’s prestigious Opera Studies Program, the evening featured performances by mezzo-soprano and two-time Grammy Award winner, Metropolitan Opera Artist J’Nai Bridges (BM’09), former New York Yankee, Latin Grammy-nominated jazz guitarist and MSM Trustee Bernie Williams (BM’16), recent MSM graduates and current MSM students, among other notable performers. All the scheduled performers were either MSM alumni or current students.
Among the recent graduates to perform included MSM alumni bass-baritone Le Bu (BM ’22) and baritone Daniel Rich (MM’19); both are currently in the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development program. Le Bu was a winner of the 2022 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and earlier this year Daniel Rich was a winner of the inaugural New York City Opera/MSM Duncan Williams Voice Competition.
The Gala was hosted by Richard Gaddes (HonDMA’17), former General Director of the Santa Fe Opera and founding General Director of the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Melissa Wegner (MM ’05), Executive Director of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and Laffont Competition.
