Pulling back the curtain

On June 26th, Jane Lauder and Kevin Warsh, with Emil and Jody Henry, held a reception at a private club to celebrate Madeleine Henry’s debut novel Breathe In, Cash Out.  This well-reviewed summer read is being called The Devil Wears Prada of Wall Street. The book has captured the attention of many senior bankers by pulling back the curtain on the grueling lives and amusing antics of junior investment bankers. Madeleine Henry worked for Governor Warsh at the Federal Reserve and then at Goldman Sachs.

Friends from finance, government and media were on the guest list including Tom Edelman, Congressman Harold Ford, Jamie Kempner, Ian Snow, Daily and Gordon Pattee, Gary Cohn, Joan Hamburg, Arthur Zeckendorf, Craig Huff. Author Jay McInerney writes that Henry’s portrait of the “ambitious, sleep-deprived, paranoid peons of Wall Street and their tyrannical masters is brilliantly observed. This is a very stylish and entertaining debut.”
