Tuesday, May 21st, 2024, at The Plaza Hotel. The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s (MSK) 17th Annual Spring Ball supported The Society’s philanthropic tradition of raising essential funds to help drive landmark innovations in cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and patient care at MSK.

The Spring Ball Initiative: Artificial Intelligence and Noninvasive Technologies for Oncologic Dermatology aims to fund research in dermatology, focusing on utilizing advanced technology to improve the detection of skin cancer and reduce the side effects of cancer treatment on the skin. Veronica Rotemberg, MD, PhD, leads a team aiming to harness artificial intelligence to enhance the accuracy of skin cancer diagnosis, minimizing unnecessary medical interventions and improving patient survival rates.

Simultaneously, Alina Markova, MD, and her team will develop noninvasive technologies for rapid skin detection of skin side effects from cancer therapy, improving patient tolerability and outcomes. The initiative raises funds to automate cancer care, enhance the synergies within the Dermatology Service at MSK, and build tools that allow for quicker and easier diagnosis and treatment for patients.

According to Muffie Potter Aston, current President of The Society of MSK, “The Society of MSK’s 17th Annual Spring Ball was such a wonderful evening. As President of The Society of MSK, I am grateful to those who attended and supported our philanthropic efforts dedicated to advancing cancer patient care for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The focus of this year’s Spring Ball Initiative was Artificial Intelligence and Noninvasive Technologies for Oncologic Dermatology. Your generosity, in raising over $2,000,000, has been instrumental in advancing this initiative, paving the way for groundbreaking improvements in cancer detection and treatment.”

The evening included cocktails, dinner, and dancing with DJ Twilo.
